Blurb

When it rains it pours….
Hard-nosed and self-reliant Dallis O'Brien has had her fair share of devastation. Her father's tragic accident sparked what seemed like a domino effect of heartbreak and loss. Unable to shake the fear of enduring any more pain, she builds walls around her heart, hoping to heal on her own.
Dallis' road to recovery is disrupted when she meets Grayson Rivera, a tattooed, coffee shop owner who, by appearances alone, isn't her typical match. Stubborn and hesitant to let him in, Dallis finally succumbs to Grayson's persistence, where he challenges her to face her loss while also having the walls of her heart broken down.
With Grayson's assistance, Dallis must decide if she is willing to learn how to be weak in order to be strong
Excerpt #3
My parents were weighing heavily on my mind as I would have turned to my mom in this situation for her ever loving guidance and words of wisdom. I found myself picking up my cell phone again to dial her number, but realization hit me like a ton of bricks and I quickly put it away. I walked into my closet and pulled out the box of their belongings. I had brought it back to Seattle following my mom’s passing, but I hadn’t been able to pull any of the contents out without fear of a nervous breakdown. I felt the strength to go through the things, wanting desperately to put up a piece of them in my home, but as I opened the box, thoughts of their death overtook me. I found myself shutting it and pushing it back into the closet without so much as a single item being removed.
An urgent need to get out of the house overcame me, so I dressed in my workout gear, and took a run down by the lake near my townhouse. I let Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd play on repeat in my ears as I ran, and the more the song played, the more I thought about my parents, Colby, and even Grayson. The more and more the song stirred in my head, the more I pounded the pavement even harder, and I soon found myself at least two miles away from home, panting hard and feeling the urge to cry, but unable to formulate any tears.

About the Author

Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)
I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!
