Book Nerd 101's Stop on the Breaking Nova Blog Tour

I am so excited to be spotlighting Breaking Nova on my blog today and to be a part of the Breaking Nova Blog Tour.  I have been a fan of Jessica's for a little over a year now and she just amazes me with each new book she releases.  Obviously this one was no different!!!

Blurb

(from Goodreads)

Nova Reed used to have dreams-of becoming a famous drummer, of marrying her true love. But all of that was taken away in an instant. Now she's getting by as best she can, though sometimes that means doing things the old Nova would never do. Things that are slowly eating away at her spirit. Every day blends into the next . . . until she meets Quinton Carter. His intense, honey brown eyes instantly draw her in, and he looks just about as broken as she feels inside.

Quinton once got a second chance at life-but he doesn't want it. The tattoos on his chest are a constant reminder of what he's done, what he's lost. He's sworn to never allow happiness into his life . . . but then beautiful, sweet Nova makes him smile. He knows he's too damaged to get close to her, yet she's the only one who can make him feel alive again. Quinton will have to decide: does he deserve to start over? Or should he pay for his past forever?

My Thoughts
So let me just start by saying that this has to be one of my absolute favorite books by Jessica that I have read so far.  The raw emotion that is intertwined into the chaotic lives of both Nova and Quinton, is so haunting, but most importantly extremely real.  This book is intended for an older audience.  The story draws the reader in right at the prologue.  For the two main characters who had to endeavor such pain and suffering and the burden that is carried is so complex.  As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours.  That is the best way to describe both Nova and Quinton's situations, without giving anything away.  Sorry everyone, no spoilers in this post!!

Nova is an extremely strong lead character.  She tries to control every aspect of her life with her daily routine.  After the trauma she endured, she needed to feel in control of everything around her.  As for Quinton, ladies, he is mister mysterious and one emotional rollercoaster ride.  However, that's what makes this character so raw and real.  His life changed one night and he will never get it back again.  He makes a promise that he intends to keep, until Nova turns his world upside down.  They are definitely what each other needs to save them from themselves.  However, neither one wants to let the other in and that becomes an up and down, merry-go-round one might call it, ride.  Overall, they have amazing chemistry and they are just drawn to one another no matter what.  The other characters in the story play well off of each other.  Nova's best friend, Delilah, helps Nova during hard times, but soon becomes a problem herself.  I really feel for her and the destructive path that the story leads her down.  All of the characters take a walk on the "wild" side and wander the path of self destruction.  Some make it out and others not so much.  As for the guys, Dylan and Tristan, I'm not a huge fan of Dylan's.  He reminds me to much of someone I use to know and I'm just not digging it.  He does however make the story interesting.  Tristan, I feel for him.  He lost a lot from his life and he just seems to be losing himself.  He's just going with what each day brings, no matter what it is, but doesn't seem to catch a break.  I really hope things look up for him soon!!

Well I can ramble on all day about this book, it was really just that good.  So I definitely give this book 5 stars, more if it were allowed.  It was another one of those books that once it starts going, you can't put it down no matter how hard you try.  I had to see what was going to happen next.  As for the ending, it takes a turn, that normally I would be completely opposed to, but for this storyline it is perfect.  Nova is beyond strong and her true personality shines and I just adore that.  I can't wait to see what Jessica has in store for these emotional complex characters that I love!!!  So overall, this is a read for a mature audience that is looking for a storyline with real life obstacles and how some people deal with traumatic hurtles.  It is an emotional rollercoaster ride that sends you spinning, but in a good way.  Great work as always Jessica!!! :)

Teaser:

We went back upstairs to our room, where Brielle headed straight for the balcony doors, opening them and letting the crisp, ocean breeze flow into our room. She walked out and propped her arms on the banister of the balcony railing as she gazed out over the sea. I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her, placing them on top of hers and pressing our bodies together. Her emotions were everywhere, consisting of concern, fear, anger, and guilt. I rubbed her arms, letting my touch wash over her in an attempt to erase the feelings plaguing her. She leaned back into me as she sighed, “Jace, I -” “Shh, mi amante,” I whispered in her ear, cutting her off. “Don't worry about anything right now. Let's enjoy this last bit of peace together before we are thrown back into chaos.” Surprisingly, she didn't try to argue. Her body relaxed against me and she pulled my arms to wrap around her waist before laying hers on top of mine. Our bond thrived as we held one another, the electricity humming over our skin and cocooning us in our love while drowning out the rest of the world until there was nothing but us. I dipped my head down before grazing my lips along Brielle's neck. Every feeling was intensified with our connection so intricately synchronized, and I could feel our desire increasing with each intoxicating touch. My hands traveled to her sides before trailing under her shirt to touch her silky skin. They moved upwards to capture her supple breasts, the nipples of which were already hardened with arousal. Her hands had made their way to the back of my head, fisting themselves in my hair as my mouth laved her delicate neck. My cock stiffened with desire from the sensations of touching and tasting her, pressing against her ass as soft moans escaped her. I trailed one of my hands down her stomach before slipping under the waistband of her shorts and beneath the lacy fabric of her panties. Her sex was drenched with her desire, and I let my fingers play within her moist, delicate folds. I bit her earlobe lightly as I growled, “Fuck, you are so wet for me already, baby.” She moaned again as continued to intricately trace my fingers along her pussy. Gods, I wanted to taste her desire so badly. I spun her around, moving my hands to unbutton her shorts and pull them off before removing her panties. She went for my jeans, but I pushed her hands away and shook my head as I rumbled, “I wanna taste you, baby; need to taste how much you want me before I fuck you.” I grabbed her hips and propped her on the railing of the balcony before kneeling before her and gripping her hips to keep her from falling. I pulled her closer, until her ass was on the edge of the railing before draping each of her legs over my shoulders and giving her a mischievous smirk, “Hold on.” My tongue slowly traced the insides of her thighs, which were damp with her desire. I greedily savored her sweetness as I slowly inched closer to her apex. I took my time, slowly licking within her folds and nibbling her clit. I pulled and teased it with my teeth as she writhed against me before plunging my tongue within her core. She moaned loudly as more of her nectar flooded my mouth, her pussy already pulsing around my tongue as she neared orgasm. I moved my hands from her hips to her ass, gripping tightly and pulling her closer as I devoured her, my tongue delving deep inside until she shuddered her release against my mouth. I eagerly suckled the rest of the sweet juices from her sex, licking it clean before I stood. I kept my hands supporting her as she slowly eased off the railing and stood on shaky legs. I was far from done with her. Just in case we might not make it out of the Underworld, I wanted to savor every second I had with her, and I was going to spend the rest of the day doing exactly that. I stripped off her shirt, tossing it to the deck of the balcony with the rest of her clothes before inching her back against the railing, pressing my body against hers. She hurriedly pulled my shirt off before undoing the button of my shorts and sliding them down my legs, along with my boxer-briefs. I turned her around before pushing her down until she was bent over the railing. I spread her legs apart from behind as I eased my cock to her slick entrance. She groaned as I slowly entered her, clutching the railing with both hands as I began to thrust inside her. One of my hands held onto her hip, and the other trailed up her back to grab her hair, which had curtained over her shoulders and spread down her back, her head tilted upwards while moaning my name. I grunted, “You like that, baby? Like when I fuck you like this?” Her cries of pleasure grew louder as she moaned, “Yes, baby. I love it when you fuck me!” Damn, she was so sexy when she sounded like that. All the noises emanating from her were slowly unraveling my control, especially when combined with the amazing sensations of our bond. As I felt my release approaching, I stopped, wanting to watch her face as I made her come. I carefully turned her over, supporting her body, making sure to stay within her warmth as her legs were wrapped around me and her back was against the railing. I resumed my thrusts, bracing one hand on the railing while the other gripped her ass as I plunged in and out of her. I leaned down to take her breast in my mouth as my gaze traveled up to her face. She arched against me, supporting herself on the balcony with her elbows while moans of pleasure escaped her open mouth as her eyes closed in ecstasy. Her pussy throbbed around me as we both neared climax. I pulled her off the balcony and carried her to our bed, laying her down on the edge and inching her back until we reached the center of the mattress. I resumed my thrusts as I claimed her mouth, our tongues joining instantly as we devoured one another. Our hands frantically roamed over each other's bodies as Brielle took me deeper and deeper into her center, taking everything I was giving her. Her pussy tightened around my shaft as she climaxed. The throbbing of her walls against my cock and her throaty moans sent me into ecstasy, my cum coating her walls with my release. I rolled to my side, panting heavily to catch my breath, but Brielle continued to roll us until she was on top of me with my dick still enclosed inside her. Her hair was wild with damp curls and sweat glistened over her skin. She looked down at me through hooded eyes, causing my cock to harden again. “My turn."

The Weekend Proposition by Ella Jade

Blurb

One weekend—no strings, no expectations, and no commitments. On Sunday afternoon it all ends, or does it?

No-nonsense businessman Spencer Cannon has a dilemma. He’s headed to Connecticut for the weekend to attend his cousin’s elaborate wedding. His whole family will be there in addition to his obsessed ex-girlfriend Ava. According to Spencer’s brother, Ava has been telling her friends she’s planning a magical reunion with her favorite ex-boyfriend. Spencer’s not in the mood to deal with her, but he can’t miss the wedding. He needs a plan.

Struggling Brooklyn waitress and aspiring graphic designer Dakota Vercelli has fallen on hard times. College debts, pending eviction, and her sick mother are taking a toll on her. A chance encounter with Mr. Cannon, CEO of Cannon and Carrington Advertising, leads to a proposition that may be just the thing to solve both of their problems. Spencer’s offer—spend four days with him during the wedding festivities and keep his ex off his trail. In return, he’ll compensate her generously for her time. He needs a weekend girlfriend, and Dakota needs the cash.

“I have a proposition for you.”

“A proposition?” What could he possibly have to offer her?

“I have to attend my cousin’s wedding this weekend. Actually, I have to leave tomorrow afternoon. I don’t want to go alone for reasons I don’t wish to discuss right now. I need someone to accompany me. I’m offering that to you.”

“And you think I’m ‘to the point’?”

He smiled but didn’t say anything. She couldn’t stand the silence. She wanted to figure out his game. There had to be some sort of catch.

“You want me to go to a wedding with you?”

“It’s in Connecticut. I would require your services until Sunday afternoon. All of your expenses would be paid, including a wardrobe which would be yours to keep after the weekend.”

“You need a date?”

“I would need you to appear as my girlfriend.”

“Is this a joke?”

“I wouldn’t joke about something like this. I’ve thought the entire thing through.”

“A man who looks like you should have no problem finding a real girlfriend to buy clothes for and flaunt in front of his family.” She thought for a moment. “Unless there’s something wrong with you.”

“There’s nothing wrong with me.” He raised his voice a bit. “I had planned on attending alone but circumstances have changed. I’m in a bind and from what I gather, you are too.”

Her instincts screamed to run in the opposite direction. She’d never been the type to fall for a scam. “I’m not interested in—”

“I’ll pay you two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for your time.”

“What?” Apparently a side of crazy came with those good looks.

“One hundred and twenty-five thousand today, if you agree.” He pulled out a check from the inside pocket of the jacket he had draped on the back of the chair. He slipped the mint green paper across the table. “You’ll get the rest on Sunday afternoon.”

“That’s fifty grand a day.” She studied the check. It would take her years to make that kind of money working these shit-end jobs.

“I’m aware.” He nodded as if the money meant nothing. “I’m asking for your time, a commodity I believe should be well compensated.”

Too good to be true.

“Do you make it a habit of paying women to be your girlfriend?”

“Pretend girlfriend,” he reminded her. “You would be the first.”

“Why me?”

“Does it matter?”

“What exactly do you expect me to do for that money?”

“I told you.” He narrowed his eyes. “I need a date for a long weekend. Everyone needs to think we’re a couple.”

“You’re willing to pay me to go away with you for four days. I’m supposed to take your word we’re going to a wedding in Connecticut? How do I know you won’t kidnap me and want to do all sorts of kinky stuff to me? You could be some sex-obsessed lunatic.”

“Kinky stuff?”

“Yeah, you know, like bondage and blindfolds.”

“Do you like that sort of thing?” He tried to conceal his smirk.

"Do I make you nervous?" His husky drawl drips like chocolate covering a ripe, round strawberry. Does he make me nervous? Does a simmering volcano make an ant nervous?
I swallow. "Nervous? I'm not nervous," I babble, refusing to look at him. I'm in physical pain. What's that thing I do where I take in air, and then let it out? Oh yeah, breathing. I need to do that.
            Like right now.
I make a strangled sound and inhale through my nostrils, taking in the smoky air like a ravenous puppy finding milk. Instantly I feel Pax's heat next to me. Soon I'll be immersed in it, wrapped in it.
            Wrapped around him.
So does that make me nervous? Only a hundred kinds of nervous.
"Time to begin!" Cade yells, as he jogs back to Pax and I, flashing his pearly whites. He pounds Pax on the back. "Don't drop the ball," he grins.
            "As if I ever do."
Cade turns to me. I see the second he registers my cleavage is exposed to the world. His eyes appraise me slowly. He gives me an appreciative grin. "Well, hello there."
"Hi," I reply. "Um, should we start now?" I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a second away from vomiting every cell inside me, and call me crazy, but I'd prefer not to start off my year known as the Vomiter.
"Yes," Pax glares at Cade. "Let's start." He inserts himself between us, blocking Cade's view of me. His firm, half naked body is next to my face. Pax's musky cologne combined with a sweaty scent unique to him assails my nostrils until my senses are reeling out of control.
Cade chuckles, looking amused. I want to glare at him. I don't find anything amusing about this. "Ready when you are."
Pax turns to me, his emerald eyes dark pools in the sunlight. This close I see every glorious inch of him, from the tiny stubbles of black hair covering the lower part of his face to the rippling six pack decorating his stomach like a tattoo. I don't dare look any lower. My pulse skitters. I forget to breathe. Something hard and hot unfurls in my belly. Unable to tear my gaze from him I watch helpless as his mouth drifts closer, until he' so close his breath mingles with mine.
            "Ride me."
