My Review of Leo and Red's Amazing Adventures

Title: Leo & Red's Amazing Adventures
Author: Abhiram Rode
Published On: June 6, 2022
Publisher: Notion Press
Source: Digitial (NetGalley)
Pages: 126

Synopsis:
Leo and Red have a sense of adventure that is matched only by their sense of doing the right thing. They explore the Element Kingdom to root out evil. Their journey of gathering the ancient relics and stopping the impending doom is complete with excitement and adventure. Starting from being naive young children, Leo and Red battle demons and dark magic to become the world's most powerful magicians and protectors.

I knew as I started to read through this book, that there was something different about this author.  I did not do any research before requesting this book from NetGalley.  I saw children's fiction, middle grade, and sci-fi and I thought that I would check it out.  I am a 5th grade ELA teacher and my students write their own Sci-Fi stories in my class snd I was hoping to find a book to share with them if they are interested in that genre.  But as I was reading, something seemed similar to me and I felt like I was reading a student's story.  Sure enough, the author of this book is 8 years old.  That is freaking amazing that he was able to combine all of his skills and publish this book.  I had a few students this school year that could have easily published their writings.  With that being said, I did struggle a bit trying to figure out which character was which and what their purpose was in the story.  However, overall, I am very pleased with this aspiring author for doing what he enjoys and getting his first book published!  Kudos to you, Abhiram!

My Thoughts
⭐⭐⭐

I want to start by saying awesome job writing a book so young. I am a 5th-grade teacher and my students write Sci-fi stories during one of our units.  I was interested to see how this story played out. Great use of dialogue and the story progression is definitely there.  The vocabulary used was also a plus for such a young author. I'd like to see more character descriptions to better understand their purpose. Also, great use of illustrations throughout.  The advanced copy of my Kindle did not do the illustrations justice.  Overall this was a great 1st book and I know your stories will keep growing. Thank you for sharing your talents!

So this will temporarily be the end of my Review streak.  I have one more book that I read in July, but I am saving my review to share in the book blitz coming in September, so keep an eye out for that.  So I was able to read 9 total books in July and I have started more for August.  I will be posting reviews as I complete them.  I will also be popping in randomly to share thoughts and other random things!  Thank you so much for checking out my reviews and remember, I am always looking for new recommendations!

Until next time Book Nerds!

Sum it up Saturday and What's The Scoop Sunday

Well I'm slacking, but I needed to finish Tasting Never and I didn't get done in time for Saturday's post.  So I decided to combine Sum it up Saturday and What's the Scoop Sunday into one post!!

First for Sum it up Saturday, I am here to review Tasting Never by C.M. Stunich.  OMG.....This book was out of this world

Synopsis from Goodreads

"Never Ross wants to be loved.
It's that simple, but it's not that easy."

Never is a girl with a broken soul who doesn't date nice guys and can't seem to go to bed at night without crying herself to sleep. She doesn't need any complications in her life, especially not when they're attached to a man that could be her emotional twin.

Ty McCabe can't stand Never the first time he meets her. He's aware that the feeling's mutual and the two don't think they'll ever see each other again, but when fate takes a hand and puts them both in the wrong place at the wrong time, Ty and Never form a tentative friendship that opens the door on their dark sides and shows them what it's like to live in the light.

"Sometimes, the only way to go forward, is to take a few, careful steps back."

My Review
What an amazing read!!  I really couldn't put it down.  I started reading this book when C.M. Stunich had a group read for the Never Series.  I figured I would give it a shot and I'm so glad that I did.  It was the first book that I picked up in almost 2 years that I was able to read cover to cover and get really excited about.  There is action right from the start of the book and that is what really draws the reader in.  I really enjoyed that the chapters were short enough to describe the situation and not long and drawn out with too many details.  She leaves the reader in suspense throughout the story, which I really loved. I liked that each situation tied into another.  The characters had really great chemistry.  Ty is just pure perfection, am I right ladies!!  He has that tough outward appearance, but a shattered past that builds to his caring and understanding personality.  He goes perfectly with Never.  She has that "the weight of the world is on my shoulders and no one can ever help me" persona.  Ty helps release her pressure to help her get back her purpose for living.  I really like the way they fit together and how they play off of each others emotional beginnings.  I can't wait to see what is in store for both Never and Ty, as well as the rest of the crew as this series continues.  C.M. Stunich has such a way with words and I am so glad that I found this series.  She makes me enjoy reading again and I am forever grateful for that!!

Ty McCabe
"When you're alone, there's nobody there to hurt you or let you down. It feels too good to have that guarantee of solitude."

Meet an Author Monday

So since I threw this all together last minute this weekend, the only way to accomplish anything in my world, lol.....I do not have a post from a specific author this week.  However, normally on Mondays, I will schedule an Author to spotlight and promote anything they want to share on my blog for the week.  I am in search for Authors to participate as I type this....So far, I've had zero luck....Hopefully I get some interested takers soon so I don't have to make up this section.....Hmmmm, Make up Monday.....Well at least I have a back up plan, hahaha

Seriously though I am really excited to start working closely with established and up and coming authors, I don't discriminate......I love helping anyone who is interested!!

So for this installment of Meet an Author Monday, I thought I would introduce myself again!!

My love and I ~ 10-20-13 and beyond
My name is Leah and I have been blogging, not religiously but, for about 3 years now.  When I first started, I had such a fantastic time meeting new people and discovering all the amazing talent that it is out there....Life threw me a few curve balls and I kind of fell off the map of promotions and what nots.  I tried several times to come back but nothing was picking up and I was getting discouraged. However, this time I am determined to stick with it, no matter the outcome, because reading makes me feel good and helping out makes me feel even better.  So even if I read a million wonderful stories and only help 1 author, I will feel like I have accomplished what I set out to do.

I am a teacher and I absolutely love what I do.  If it weren't for teaching, I would go insane in a normal 9 to 5 job.  I love not knowing what to expect each day and loving ever second of the random outburst from the little ones.  They keep my days interesting and my life a little brighter. I wanted to be a teacher from when I was 7 years old and I wasn't going to stop until I reached my goal.  I am working on getting my own classroom.  One day my dream will be complete, but for now I am definitely enjoying the journey and all the experiences!!

Well I said life threw me some curve balls.....Well the best one thus far was the birth of my little princess.  I recently became a mommy and it is the best position I've ever had.  She means the world to me and I would be completely lost without her.  She makes my dark days bright and my bright days brighter.  In her few shorts months that she has been in my life, I can't imagine how I survived without her.  She has shown me what true unconditional love truly means.  She makes me want to be a better person each day to provide her with the world.  She was my push to get back to my hobby of reading and be able to do things that make me happy!!

Well that's all for now.....I hope I get to meet you one day!! :)

I think I can, I think I can...REVAMP

Now that I am trying to revamp this page, I want to bring back my daily postings and see if I can actually keep up with it this time around.

I'm really excited to be back into reading and I would really like to see this page take off.  My main goal is to help as many indie authors that I can and spread the word about great books. I also want to review as many books as I can and spotlight upcoming and established authors, as well as bloggers, reviewers, beta readers, etc.  I really want this to be a one stop, all reading blog, with a few added surprises here and there.

My main goal for getting back into reading, aside from the fact that I love it, is that I want to instill reading into my daughter's life.  She just recently turned 3 months old and she is the center of my universe.  I really want to show her now, even at such a young age, how important and fun reading can be.  I've started her library from before she was even born and now she has a ton of books.  She loves story time and I want her to really enjoy reading as she continues to grow.  So I figure, what better way to show her how to love reading, than to read myself.  Furthermore, if I'm going to be reading again, I definitely want to start blogging and promoting again!!

I have to say, my 1st year of promoting and blogging was so amazing.  I talked to so many amazing authors, that I now consider my friends.  I also read some amazing books and got hooked on some killer series.  I've really missed that escape from reality.  I also miss finding out the latest releases and keeping up on the up and coming.  So since I am coming up on my 3 year blogiversary
I'd really like to get the ball rolling!!

So now here are some ideas I have for daily postings:

Sunday - What's the Scoop Sunday (This will be about what books I plan to be reading or the progress I am making and hints about who will be in the spotlight this week)

Monday - Meet an Author Monday (A posting from the author of the week....It can contain promotional things, giveaways, an interview, bio, etc.  You never know what you will learn about some of your favorite authors or maybe an author you never heard of)

Tuesday - Turn it up Tuesday (This will be a post about music that provokes an emotion from me.  It can be the background music, the sound of the singers voice, instruments, the lyrics, or even the background story.  Some of these songs may remind me of a book or a character, or they just may be my flavor of the week.  Videos and lyrics will be posted if possible and maybe even info about the artist)

Wednesday - Watch Out Wednesday (Here is where I will post any promotional things for the week.  Maybe a new release that may be coming out, cover reveal, teaser, etc.  Anything that I find exciting to be happening in the upcoming days or weeks)

Thursday - Throwback Thursday (Here I will highlight some of my favorite stories from when I was little or books that I have read in the past that hold a special place in my heart)

Friday - Favorite Things Friday (Here I will post things that are my favorite....it can be just about anything)

Saturday - Sum it up Saturday (Here is where I will recap all that has happened during the week and where I will leave any reviews that I may have.  I may also have giveaways posted here once I start getting donations and what nots)

So I really hope this works out this time.  If you or someone you know would like to be spotlighted on this blog, have a book that needs a review, other ideas for daily postings, things you want to see on the blog/Facebook page, or anything else I can help out with book promotions or book related services, please contact me at booknerd101@live.com, comment here, or hit me up on Facebook: Book Nerd 101

Can't wait to get started!!!
